Etienne’s paper on swimming active protein droplets has been published on Nature Communications
Congratulations to Etienne and all co-authors for their paper, “Phase-separated droplets swim to their dissolution,” now published in Nature Communications!
The team used a model system with BSA, PEG, and enzymes to explore biomolecular condensates’ properties. Their mixture spontaneously phase-separated into protein-rich droplets that catalyze biochemical reactions, sense each other through chemical gradients, and swim towards each other.
